RUGBY: 15s season opens Sept. 18

New season begins on a Saturday night in Lethbridge

VANCOUVER – The Canada West released its 2021 rugby 15s schedule Tuesday, with women's rugby action set to return September 18.

Four of the conference's five teams will take to the field on opening weekend with the Lethbridge Pronghorns and Alberta Pandas getting the new season underway in a Saturday night matchup in Lethbridge.

The UBC Thunderbirds, coming off of their first conference championship in 2019, will visit the Victoria Vikes to open their title defence on September 19.

The Calgary Dinos will have to wait until Week 2 to open their season, playing host to Lethbridge on September 24.

The format for rugby 15s is unchanged for the 2021 season. Canada West had previously announced changes to many sport formats on May 5.

The regular season wraps up in Vancouver on October 23 before the CW Final Four heads to Calgary. The semifinals are set for October 28, with the final slated for October 31.

The U SPORTS Championship will be hosted by Queen's University November 11-14.
