FH: Dates announced for 2021 conference schedule

Two double round-robin tournaments featured in new format

VANCOUVER - The Canada West field hockey schedule will have a new look in 2021 as the conference announced dates for its two regular season tournaments on Monday.

The double round-robin tournaments will be hosted by Victoria, October 1-3, and UBC, October 22-24.

Reigning Canada West champions, the Victoria Vikes, open the conference schedule against the Calgary Dinos on October 1. The UBC Thunderbirds see their first action later the same day when they take on the Dinos.

With eight games on the field hockey schedule for each program, the number of games remains the same as previous seasons, while the travel schedule has been reduced after the conference announced changes to its sport formats for the 2021-22 season on May 5. The conference champion is still determined by the final standings, with the top team earning the CW banner.

Whoever emerges from the conference as champions will head east to take on the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) champion November 11-14 in a best-of-three series for the U SPORTS championship.
