WVB: TWU/MRU duos power First All-Star team

Women's volleyball All-Stars released ahead of Round Two playoff action

CALGARY — Trinity Western and Mount Royal take centre stage at this year's All-Star announcement. Canada West released its All-Star and All-Rookie rosters Wednesday, with notable duos from the Spartans and Cougars leading the first-team list.

First Team All-Stars

Savannah Purdy and Avery Heppell represent the top team in the country, the Trinity Western Spartans, among the first team stars. Their combined firepower has propelled the team to 18 wins this season while suffering a single loss.

The now 17-4 Mount Royal Cougars also boasted two picks, setter Quinn Pelland and hitter Madison Marshall.

Alberta's Kory White, Saskatchewan's Emily Koshinsky and Brandon's Ravyn Wiebe rounded out the line-up, a lethal combination who together posted 702 kills on the season.

The Cougars and Spartans (and their respective all-stars) are now readying to host Round Two of the CW Volleyball Playoffs this weekend. That's where the six-team field will be trimmed by two, with the Final Four set for March 18 and 19.
