WVB: Hitter breaks Canada West career record

ALB hitter puts herself atop CW history book in all-time kills

CALGARY - The University of Alberta's Kory White is Canada West's new all-time leader in career kills. The fifth-year outside hitter broke the mark Friday night, notching 23 kills to surpass the previous leader, former Panda Meg Casault.

Casault's mark of 1,321 stood since 2017. White took the record with her 1,322nd kill in the Pandas' first set against the Calgary Dinos Friday. She finished the night with 1,341 career kills.

“Kory has been one of the most driven, committed, and hard-working athletes I've ever coached. It's only fitting that she leaves her mark on the record books as she has certainly made a tremendous impact on our team,” said Pandas head coach Laurie Eisler. “Her accomplishments in the sport to date are impressive, and she has an exciting future ahead of her once this season is complete as she takes the next steps in her career.”

White also broke Casault’s Canada West points record of 1513.0 on Friday night, having now recorded 1,525.5 points in her varsity career. White has played four years in Canada West, due to a season lost to the COVID-19 pandemic. She accomplished tonight's feat in 31 fewer sets than the previous record-holder did during her tenure with the Pandas.
