WSOC Playoff Preview
Eight teams look to punch ticket to Final Four this weekend

Article by Brian Swane, special to CW
Oct. 24, 2025 - The Canada West women’s soccer postseason kicks off this weekend, with a quartet of quarterfinal matches taking place across the conference on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the Calgary Dinos host the Victoria Vikes while the Trinity Western Spartans take on the MacEwan Griffins in Langley.
Then on Saturday, the Saskatchewan Huskies visit the defending champion UBC Thunderbirds, and the Mount Royal Cougars entertain the UBCO Heat.
The winning teams will advance to the 2025 Canada West women’s soccer Final Four, which will be hosted by the highest-seeded remaining Pacific Division team on the first weekend in November.
All Canada West playoff games will be broadcast live on Canada West TV – Powered by BioSteel.

Calgary (11-1-2, first in Prairie Division) vs. Victoria (5-5-4, fourth in Pacific Division)
Friday, Oct. 24 - 6 p.m. MDT at McMahon Stadium in Calgary
Victoria will attempt to pull off what no Canada West women’s soccer team was able to do during the 2025 regular season: defeat the Dinos at home.
Calgary went 6-0-1 at McMahon Stadium, where they outscored opponents 13-1. Over seven home matches, the Dinos recorded six clean sheets, with three apiece from goalkeepers Anna Demarbre and Lauren Haughton.
Victoria, however, are the last visiting side to win at McMahon Stadium, upsetting Calgary 1-0 in the 2024 Canada West semi-final on the strength of midfielder Taiya Scorey’s 12th-minute goal. The Vikes and Dinos have not met since that match last November.

Trinity Western (10-3-1, second in Pacific Division) vs. MacEwan (9-3-2, third in Prairie Division)
Friday 6 p.m. PDT at Chase Office Field in Langley
This is a rematch of the 2024 Canada West women’s soccer quarterfinal, which saw Trinity Western knock off the host Griffins by a score of 2-1 at the Edmonton Scottish Dome.
Twelve months later, the scene has shifted to Chase Office Field, home of the 10-time conference champion Spartans, who have advanced to the semi-finals in each of the last 20 Canada West postseasons.
It might take a couple goals to win this match. Trinity Western and MacEwan were the third and fourth highest scoring teams in the Canada West regular season, averaging 2.29 and 2.21 goals per game, respectively.

Mount Royal (10-3-1, second in Prairie Division) vs. UBCO (6-5-3, third in Pacific Division)
Saturday 1 p.m. MDT at MRU Field #2 in Calgary
Seeking the program’s first ever Canada West women’s soccer postseason victory, UBCO heads to Calgary, where the host Cougars boast a 5-1-1 home record this season.
Mount Royal is led by midfield sensation Tamara Djurisic, who was the Canada West co-leader with 9 goals and tied for fourth in the conference with 5 assists, factoring in 14 of Mount Royal’s 25 goals this season.
While these teams did not cross paths during the 2025 regular season, they played each other twice in 2024, with the Heat winning 2-1 at home and playing the Cougars to a 1-1 draw in Calgary.

UBC (14-0-0, first in Pacific Division) vs. Saskatchewan (8-5-1, fourth in Prairie Division)
Saturday 5 p.m. PDT at Thunderbird Stadium in Vancouver
For the second consecutive season, the T-Birds did not drop a point, winning all 14 of their matches while outscoring opponents 42-0. UBC has now won 31 straight Canada West matches including the postseason and haven’t conceded a goal in non-exhibition play since Oct. 18, 2024.
Saskatchewan, however, is a pretty stingy side in its own right, tying for third in Canada West with a goals against average of 0.86, and allowing just seven goals over the last 12 matches.
These teams last met in the 2023 quarterfinal round, where UBC prevailed by a score of 3-1 at Thunderbird Stadium.
