Oct. 28, 2025 - They were the top four teams during the regular season, so it’s only fitting that the Calgary Dinos, Mount Royal Cougars, Trinity Western Spartans and defending champion UBC Thunderbirds comprise the 2025 Canada West Women’s Soccer Final Four.
After winning their respective quarterfinal matches last weekend, the Dinos, Cougars, Spartans and Thunderbirds are coming to UBC’s Ken Woods Field in pursuit of the Canada West Women’s Soccer Championship Trophy.
UBC plays Mount Royal while Calgary faces Trinity Western in semifinal action on Thursday, followed by the gold and bronze medal matches on Friday.
All games will be broadcast live on Canada West TV - Powered by BioSteel.

UBC (14-0-0 regular season, 1-0 playoffs) vs. Mount Royal (10-3-1 regular season, 1-0 playoffs)

UBC continued its incredible run of dominance last week, defeating the visiting Saskatchewan Huskies 1-0 in the quarterfinals to extend its unbeaten streak to 38 matches across the regular season and playoffs.
Mount Royal staged a late comeback in its quarterfinal, scoring in the 77th and 88th minutes to edge the UBCO Heat 2-1 in Calgary — the program’s first home playoff win since joining Canada West in 2012.
Now the Cougars will look to make more history, against the Thunderbirds. Mount Royal has never beaten UBC in women’s soccer, going 0-6-2 across eight previous meetings.
This will be the first time the Cougars and Thunderbirds have crossed paths in the playoffs.
It’s not just defeating UBC that has become a near-impossible task; simply scoring on the Thunderbirds has proven to be an incredible challenge in its own right. After posting a clean sheet against the Huskies last week, UBC has now gone 22 consecutive non-exhibition matches without conceding a goal. Over 14 regular season games, UBC allowed only 29 shots on goal, all of which were stopped by UBC goalkeepers Dakota Beckett and Emma Sparrow.
Mount Royal, however, has the ultimate offensive weapon in Tamara Djurisic. The third-year midfielder was the Canada West co-leader with nine goals during the regular season, and scored the game-tying goal for the Cougars in their comeback against the Heat last week.
UBC has played in the gold medal game each of the last five postseasons, while the Cougars are trying to reach the final for the first time.

Calgary (11-1-2 regular season, 1-0 playoffs) vs. Trinity Western (10-3-1 regular season, 1-0 playoffs)
Thursday, Oct. 30 | 6:30 p.m. PDT
Last year at the Canada West Women’s Soccer Final Four, Calgary and Trinity Western met for bronze, with the Spartans prevailing 3-2 in a thrilling contest. A year later, one of them will have the chance to play for gold.
In the quarterfinal round last week, Calgary got a late goal from Sofia Digiacomo to defeat the Victoria Vikes by a score of 1-0 at McMahon Stadium. Trinity Western also won its quarterfinal game by a 1-0 score, with Luciana Andrews scoring the game’s lone goal to defeat the MacEwan Griffins in Langley.
The backbone of the Dinos is their goalkeeping duo of Anna Demarbre and Lauren Houghton, who combined to allow just six goals over 14 regular season matches. Houghton made a pair of saves to secure victory over Victoria last week, including a sensational stop just moments before the final whistle.
Yasmine Pahal has played every second in goal for Spartans. The third-year goalkeeper conceded only 13 goals in 14 matches during the regular season and made four saves to post a clean sheet against MacEwan in the quarterfinal.
Both teams can score with the best, ranking second (Calgary) and third (Trinity Western) in goals per game across Canada West this season. Spartans forward Sophie Crowther led the conference with 19 points, from six goals and 13 assists, while Calgary’s Brooke Batty scored seven times and added four assists for a total of 11 points, tied for third in Canada West.
Calgary and Trinity Western have combined for five of the last seven Canada West women’s soccer gold medalists: the Dinos won their second-ever title in 2019, while the 10-time champion Spartans hoisted the trophy in 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2023.
