WSOC: Danielewicz named Player of the Week after hat-trick

Saturday's hat-trick leads MRU to victory

VANCOUVER - Three goals from the Canada West Women's Soccer Player of the Week, Sydney Danielewicz, lifted the Mount Royal Cougars to their first win of the season.

Danielewicz scored in the 26th, 35th and 52nd minutes as the Cougars knocked off the Lethbridge Pronghorns 3-1 in Calgary on Saturday.

Game log:
Saturday, Sept. 11 – 90 min, 3 goals, 4 shots on goal in 3-1 W vs LET

It was the first career Canada West goal for the first-year forward, finishing off a cross from Kareena Kassam. Less than 10 minutes later, Danielewicz found the scoresheet again with a shot from the top of the box that sailed over the Lethbridge goalkeeper. The Calgary native made it a hat-trick and sealed the MRU victory by finishing off a rebound in the 52nd minute.

Danielewicz will move forward as the CW nominee for the U SPORTS Athlete of the Week.
