VB: Johnstone, Wiebe named Players of the Week
Alberta's Johnstone, Brandon's Wiebe earn weekly honours

VANCOUVER - A perfect hitting night on Saturday earned Alberta's Billy Johnstone Men's Volleyball Player of the Week honours, while Brandon outside hitter Rayvn Wiebe was recognized as conference's Women's Volleyball Player of the week after leading the Bobcats to a pair of key victories against Manitoba.
Johnstone was a key piece of the Golden Bears weekend sweep of the previously undefeated Calgary Dinos in Edmonton.
The second-year middle was an efficient 6-of-11 attacking on Friday night, while adding a solo block and a pair of block assists to go along with four digs on defence in Alberta's 3-0 win.
In Saturday's rematch, Johnstone was automatic, converting all nine of his attacks for kills. The Gisborne, New Zealand native added two more solo blocks and another five block assists in a 3-1 win.
With the weekend sweep, Alberta (6-0) moved two games clear of Calgary in the Central Divsion standings. The Golden Bears host the MacEwan Griffins (1-5) this weekend. Both games will be available live on Canada West TV presented by Co-op.

Wiebe led the Bobcats to a pair of key wins on the weekend, vaulting Brandon up to sole possession of second place in the conference's East Division standings at 4-2.
Wiebe, a fifth-year from Morden, Man., put home a combined 29 kills in a weekend sweep of the Manitoba Bisons.
On Friday, Wiebe had 15 kills in 35 attempts, finishing the Bobcats' 3-0 win with a .314 kill percentage.
On Saturday, in a five-set match, Wiebe again led Brandon in kills with 14, while adding 8 digs, five block assists and three aces.
Wiebe leads the conference with 94 total kills this season and is thir with 3.76 kills per set.
The Bobcats are off this weekend, ahead of the December break, and will return to the court in Saskatoon against the Saskatchewan Huskies January 14-15.
