T&F: SSK, REG runners show off form ahead of CW Championships
SSK's Farmer, REG's Mytopher earn Track and Field Athlete of the Week honours

CALGARY - Saskatchewan's Kendra Farmer and Regina's Brayden Mytopher were named the Canada West Track and Field Athletes of the Week by the conference Tuesday.
Farmer continued to build on her successful Canada West career during a meet at the University of Saskatchewan over the weekend. The fifth-year middle distance runner captured gold in the 300-metre race with an impressive time of 38.80. The current Huskies record holder in that distance will be looking to improve on her national silver medal performances in each of the last two years.
Farmer took home silver in the 600-metre, nipping at the heels of her teammate, Avery Pearson with a time of 1:33.80.
She was also a member of the Huskies' golden 4x200-metre relay team, showing she's in fine form ahead of the conference's meet.
The Canada West Championships are slated for Feb. 24 & 25 at the University of Saskatchewan. A home meet for Farmer, she'll be eager put a bow her CW career in front of an encouraging crowd.

Meanwhile, Brayden Mytopher scooped up a couple medals of his own, coming off a double silver-medal performance at the CW Championship in 2022.
Mytopher ran to gold in the 1500-metre event in Saskatoon over the weekend, posting a time of 3:55.69, nearly two seconds faster than his nearest competitor. He also grabbed silver in the 1000-metre race, completing the track in 2:28.19.
The long-distance runner ranks in the top three all-time for Cougars in the 1000-metre, 1500-metre and 3000-metre events.
He'll be chasing gold at the CW Championships on Feb. 24 & 25, back at the University of Saskatchewan.
