SWIM: CW swimmers set for championships in Edmonton

Student-athletes compete Friday-Sunday in Alberta capital

EDMONTON - Student-athletes from across the conference are set to hit the water at the 2021 Canada West Men's and Women's Swimming Championships at Edmonton's Kinsmen Sport Centre.

The 2021 championships, hosted by the University of Alberta, get underway Friday with heats beginning at 4 p.m. MST. The full event schedule, live results and updated championship information can be found on the Championship Central page here.

Eight schools are represented at the championships with over three dozen events on the schedule over the course of the three-day meet.

It's no surprise that the UBC Thunderbirds enter the championships as one of the favourites. UBC has taken home 11 straight team titles on the women's side and seven on the men. The two teams are also both four-time reining national champions.

The Calgary Dinos look to be the top challenger for the conference crown again in 2021. The Dinos came within five points of UBC on the men's side in 2019 and were also second in the women's team standings.

Returning to championships are the 2019 Men's Swimmer of the Year, Alexander Pratt (UBC), and the 2019 Rookies of the Year in Anna Dumont-Belnager (UBC) and Raben Dommann (UBC).

All heats and relays will be available live on Canada West TV presented by Co-op.
