SOC: UNBC keeper, TWU forward stand tall in weekend matches
Zadravec, Dieterich named CW Players of the Week

CALGARY – Northern British Columbia's Daniel Zadravec and Trinity Western's Makenna Dieterich were named the Canada West Soccer Players of the Week by the conference on Tuesday.
Zadravec earns the honour after an incredible defensive display gave the preseason favourites, UBC Thunderbirds, a lot to think about. He made six saves on seven shots in the teams' match Friday, showing up in key moments to give his team the 2-1 edge.
UNBC entered the season ranked 10th in the coaches' poll. But Zadravec helped the T-Wolves flip the script again on Saturday, when he amazingly turned away all 14 shots he faced to give his team the draw at 0-0.
The goalkeeper kept dangerous UBC scorers at bay to help his Timberwolves improve to 6-4-2 on the season, now nipping at the Thunderbirds' heels.
Zadravec and UNBC are now off for a week before returning to action on October 15 when they host UBCO at noon local time. You can catch the game exclusively on Canada West TV.
Game log:
Sept. 30: 6 saves, 1 GA in 2-1 W at UBC
Oct. 1: 14 saves, 0 GA in 0-0 D at UBC
Meanwhile, Dieterich was on a mission of her own for the Trinity Western Spartans.
Stuck 0-1 against the surging Calgary Dinos Friday, Dieterich sent a perfectly placed kick into the top of the net to tie the game.
She then went back to work in the centre of the box, pushing past a defender and nailing another kick past the Dinos' keeper for the game-winning goal.
The third-year forward worked with efficiency, putting away both her shots in the match.
Dieterich's nose for the net returned Saturday, when she rushed into a wide pass to tuck the ball away for her third of the weekend. Her score was instrumental as the Spartans went on to draw with UNBC and add another point on the weekend.
She and the Trinity Western Spartans will be back in action Friday, when they host UFV at 5 p.m. local time. You can catch the game exclusively on Canada West TV.
