Steer adds five goals to season total, Koch scores four for Vikes

VANCOUVER - Goal scorers highlighted this week's top performances as the conference announced UBC's Danielle Steer and Victoria's Isaac Koch as the Soccer Players of the Week on Tuesday.

Steer moved back into a tie for the conference lead in scoring with five goals, while Koch recorded his first four goals of the season during play over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Steer notched a hat-trick in Kelowna on Friday night, scoring all three goals in UBC's 3-0 win over the UBC Okanagan Heat. A day later, the fourth-year forward added two more markers and chalked up an assist in a 5-1 Thunderbird win.

The Surrey, B.C. native now has 12 goals on the season, tying Calgary's Montana Leonard for tops in the Canada West.

UBC (8-0) opens a pivotal weekend series with the West Division leading Trinity Western Spartans (10-0) on Friday. The conference's only two undefeated teams are set to play at 5:30 p.m. PDT Friday and Saturday.

Steer will move forward as the CW nominee for the U SPORTS Athlete of the Week.
