RUGBY: Second-year fly half dominates in team's silver-medal performance

UBC's Savannah Bauder's puts up impressive stat line to earn Player of the Week honours

CALGARY - British Columbia's Savannah Bauder was named the Canada West Rugby Player of the Week by the conference Tuesday.

The second-year fly half led the tournament in tries with 10 while her UBC Thunderbirds came away with a silver medal after falling to the Victoria Vikes in the finals.

Bauder also tucked away four converts on the weekend.

The North Vancouver, BC product has every tool in the Rugby 7s kit: speed, vision, awareness and the ability to create opportunities for her teammates.

Over the weekend, Bauder read defensives like a book and beat them with her talent and quickly drawn-up plans.

It all makes her simply fun to watch.

UBC is slated to be back in action at the next CW tournament on Feb. 25 and 26 as they play host at the Geralt McGavin Rugby Centre.
