RUGBY: Lethbridge's Durfey named Player of the Week
Durfey's all-around play helped Pronghorns to second straight win
VANCOUVER - Karlee Durfey was named the conference's Rugby Player of the Week on Tuesday after a strong performance by the fourth-year Pronghorn helped Lethbridge to its second consecutive win.
Durfey was a key piece to the Pronghorns offensive attack and defensive strategy in Friday's important 22-14 win over the Calgary Dinos. The win split the season-series with the Dinos and has the Pronghorns sitting 11 points clear of Calgary with two games remaining for each team. The Pronghorns (3-1) are currently tied for first in the standings with UBC at 15 points.
The Cardston, Alta. native helped flip field position throughout the match in Lethbridge, and helped set up multiple tries for teammates. On the defensive side, Durfey made a number of plays to help the Pronghorns hold the Dinos to 14 points.
The Pronghorns have two matches left on their 2021 Canada West schedule. Lethbridge visits the UBC Thunderbirds (3-0) on October 14 before traveling to Victoria to take on the Vikes (2-1) on October 17.
