RUG: VIC centre shines in final regular season game
Summer Blackmore earns CW Player of the Week honours

CALGARY – Victoria's Summer Blackmore was named the Canada West Rugby 15s Player of the Week by the conference on Tuesday.
Blackmore put her nose to the grindstone Saturday, when her Vikes found themselves trailing UBC in the second half. She put an end to the Thunderbirds' momentum by punching in a try to get her team within striking distance.
Then, in the final moments of the game, Blackmore put forward an incredible individual effort, blocking the UBC kick and intercepting it to run back the ball for a try. The ensuing convert by teammate by Kira Peary tied the game at 31, where it ended.
Blackmore's efforts helped her team end a five-game losing streak to the Thunderbirds with the draw.
She and the Vikes now head into the Canada West Rugby Playoffs ranked second, so they'll take on third-ranked Calgary in Edmonton this weekend. That semi-final will go ahead Thursday at 1 p.m. You can catch all the action on Canada West TV.
