Olympian Regan Yee honoured with Canada West Hall of Fame induction

Conference honours decorated Trinity Western runner

Jan. 23, 2026 - One of the most decorated athletes in Trinity Western history will have her legacy enshrined in the Canada West Hall of Fame, as Regan Yee joins the Class of 2025-26 in the Athlete category.

A six-time Canada West team champion in cross country and track and field, Yee’s university tenure served as the foundation for an elite professional running career that has included appearances at the World Athletics Championships, Pan American Games, and two Olympic Games.

Yee received a scholarship to attend Trinity Western University in 2013 and quickly emerged as one of the conference’s premier distance athletes. She earned Canada West Track and Field Rookie of the Year honours in 2013-14 and capped her collegiate career by being named the conference’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year in 2017–18.

Across her time at TWU, Yee collected 10 Canada West individual medals and all-star selections, including seven first-team honours, while playing a central role in the Spartans’ sustained conference success.

Her impact extended to the national stage, helping Trinity Western teams capture five U SPORTS medals and earning multiple U SPORTS All-Canadian selections.

Yee’s university career was defined by competitive excellence and a commitment to academics, setting her up for success on the international stage. Since graduating from TWU in 2018, she has represented Canada at three World Athletics Championships (2019, 2022, 2023), the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, and the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games, specializing in the 3000m steeplechase and 5000m.

“Regan was one of those outstanding athletes when I first arrived as Athletic Director. You could tell how much she cared about being excellent at running and at school. She was dedicated, hard-working, and had such a fierce determination in competition. I am not surprised one bit by her outstanding success.” - Jeff Gamache, Trinity Western University Director of Athletics

Yee is one of eight inductees into the Canada West Hall of Fame's Class of 2025-26 which was unveiled earlier this month. Individual inductee spotlights will continue throughout the remainder of the season.

ABOUT THE CANADA WEST HALL OF FAME

For the last century, organized university sport has been a central part of the student experience at institutions across Western Canada. Beginning with the University of Manitoba capturing the first Western Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union (WCIAU) men's hockey banner in 1919-20, student-athletes have been competing to reach their full potential in sport and the classroom, while enriching campus life.

To commemorate 100 years of university sport across Western Canada, the Canada West Hall of Fame was created in the spring of 2019. This year's induction class will be unveiled throughout the 2025-26 season.
