MHKY: Griffins-Dinos series postponed

Games postponed after positive COVID-19 cases confirmed

VANCOUVER - The Canada West announced Thursday that the upcoming weekend series between the MacEwan Griffins and Calgary Dinos has been postponed after multiple positive cases of COVID-19 were confirmed within the Griffins men's hockey program.

The two games, originally scheduled for October 22 and 23, will be rescheduled at a later date. The conference's 2021-22 schedule was created with protected open weekends for instances where games may need to be rescheduled to accommodate positive cases or other issues related to the ongoing pandemic.

The Griffins men’s hockey program has and will continue to closely follow all COVID-19 protocols as directed by Alberta Health Services and the Chief Medical Officer of Health, as well as COVID-19 regulations set by MacEwan University and Canada West.

The decision to postpone the games was made by the two participating schools in consultation with the Canada West's COVID-19 Task Force and the conference office, in order to protect the health and safety of all players and team personnel at both institutions.
