HKY: UBC goalie, CGY defenceman close out the regular season in style
Hugens, King named CW Players of the Week

CALGARY – UBC's Elise Hugens and Calgary's Noah King were named the Canada West Hockey Players of the Week by the conference on Tuesday.
Hugens put together a flawless performance over the weekend. The second-year goaltender didn't allow a single goal in two games on the road. The second of the two was a record-breaking game for her T-Birds, as they made history for the most wins in a single season with 24.
Hugens gave her team every opportunity to take the record, turning away every shot she faced. She frustrated the Regina Cougars' offence to post her fifth and sixth shutouts of the year.
She stopped 17 shots Friday and 15 Saturday, bolstering her save percentage to .949 and goals against average to 1.05, both of which lead the league.
The Sherwood Park, AB product has backstopped her team to first place in the conference by a convincing margin. The two wins this weekend put her record up to 14-1-2 on the season.
She and the T-Birds will now enjoy a one-week bye before hosting a CW semifinal series against the lower-ranked quarterfinal winner. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Feb. 25 & 26. A game three, if needed, will go Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. PST. You can catch all the action on Canada West TV.

Meanwhile, Noah King helped the Calgary Dinos extend their historic win streak to 23, the perfect way to close out a dominant regular season.
The Dinos' captain scored twice Friday evening with net-seeking missiles. He first walked the line and fire one home from the high slot. His second came off a quick fake then fire that found its way over the Griffins' goaltender's shoulder.
The defenceman is a plus 22 on the year, having displayed excellence on both ends of the ice.
He showed off his vision and ability to control the flow of the game Saturday. He assisted on the opening goal of the game with a nice pass up the left side that beat a defender but found Arjun Atwal who hammered home a slap shot.
He then scored a beauty off a pass from his defence partner, Connor Horning. King snuck through the defence and turned around a quick pass for his third of the weekend.
The two wins extended Calgary's lead atop the CW standings, where they end the regular season.
They're now slated to face the lower-ranked quarterfinal winner in semifinal action on Feb. 24. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. MST each day of the best-of-three series. You can catch all the playoff action on Canada West TV.
