HKY: MRU forward, UBC defenceman combine for 10 points in impressive showings
Amy, Lee named CW Players of the Week

CALGARY – Mount Royal's Tatum Amy and British Columbia's Jake Lee were named the Canada West Hockey Players of the Week by the conference on Tuesday.
Amy provided the first spark for the Cougars Friday, opening the scoring early in the second period of the team's match-up with the Trinity Western Spartans. The fifth-year forward won the face-off to gain the zone before firing a tough-angle shot through the Spartans' goaltender.
Then, after the Spartans tied the game at two, Amy won another key faceoff in the offensive zone, getting the puck over to teammate Courtney Kollman, who buried a one-timer for the game-winner.
Amy, the Cougars' captain, set the tone for Saturday's rematch, getting involved in the game's first two goals in the first period. She first showed off her strength, firing a slap shot that was redirected in front of the net for the opening goal. The forward then showed off her speed, leading a rush out of the defensive zone, passing off to Kollman then driving the net to tuck the return pass behind the Spartans' goaltender despite pressure from the defence.
Amy's play helped propel the Cougars to their second straight win of the weekend, this time 5-3 over the Spartans.
She and MRU are now slated to face off against crosstown rival, the Calgary Dinos Friday at 7 p.m. local time. You can catch the action exclusively on Canada West TV.
Game log:
Oct. 7: 1 goal, 1 assist in 3-2 W vs TWU
Oct. 8: 1 goal, 1 assist in 5-3 W vs TWU
Meanwhile, Jake Lee was his own form of lethal in UBC's games at the University of Manitoba over the weekend. The defenceman went off like a shot, notching back-to-back goals early in the first period of Friday night's game.
The scores gave the Thunderbirds the edge as they found themselves in a battle with the Bisons before pulling off the win.
Then with Saturday's match tied at six, Lee stepped into a slap shot off the draw, powering it past the Bisons' goaltender. The goal was instrumental as the T-Birds completed the sweep on the road.
Lee and the Thunderbirds will be back in action Saturday evening at 7 p.m. when they host Saskatchewan. You can catch the game exclusively on Canada West TV.
