GOLF: UBCO, VIC golfers at the top of their fields
Harjai, Towill named CW Golfers of the Week

CALGARY – Victoria's Sukriti Harjai and UBCO's Justin Towill were named the Canada West Golfers of the Week by the conference on Tuesday.
Harjai was the hometown hero when her underdog Victoria Vikes hosted the Canada West championships on Oct. 3 and 4.
She came out firing in day one, posting an impressive three-under-par 68 to co-lead the tournament with UBC's Jessica Ng.
After a lengthy fog delay Tuesday, Harjai showed her nerves of steel, birdying the first two holes of the round to jump out to an early lead over her final pairing playing partners. She battled through some mid-round adversity before finishing strong, parring the course for the individual championship win.
Harjai's performance also led her Vikes to a conference silver medal.
Meanwhile, Towill put together an impressive two-day run at the CW Championships. After entering the final round stuck three behind then-leader Hudson Lafayette (UBC), Towill fired off two birdies in the first three holes Tuesday to position himself among the leaders.
Despite mounting pressure and a men's field that was saw leaders changing nearly every hole, Towill rose to the occasion, notching another two birdies on the back nine. His day two 69 was just enough to earn him the title, as he finished one stroke ahead of runner-up Jackson Jacob of the Fraser Valley Cascades.
