FH: Victoria's Langkammer dominates opening tournament

Vikes rookie scored seven goals in four games

VANCOUVER - Victoria Vikes first-year Chloe Langkammer was named the Canada West Field Hockey Player of the Week on Tuesday after scoring seven times in the conference's opening tournament.

Langkammer helped the defending national champions to a 4-0 finish over the weekend at the first conference tournament of 2021 in Victoria.

The Duncan, B.C. product scored three times in the Vikes season opening 7-0 win against Calgary and once in a 3-1 victory over UBC.

With the teams matching up for their second games of the double round robin event, Langkammer added another goal in a 6-0 win over the Dinos, before capping the weekend off with a two-goal performance in a 3-0 triumph over the Thunderbirds.

The three field hockey programs will meet again at a second round robin tournament, hosted by the UBC Thunderbirds, in Vancouver.
