FB: Canada West unveils 2024 football schedule

24 game schedule kicks off August 30

May 2, 2024 – Start the countdown! The quest for the 87th Hardy Cup begins in just 120 days.

Canada West has announced its 2024 football schedule, with all the hard hitting action set to return on Aug. 30.

This year's campaign begins with an immediate bang on Week 1, starting with a mouthwatering opening night doubleheader. The Calgary Dinos will welcome the Regina Rams to McMahon Stadium in a battle of teams looking to bounce back to the postseason picture, while UBC hosts Alberta in a juicy Hardy Cup rematch. The T-Birds and Golden Bears delivered one of the most memorable championship games in conference history last season, with UBC's incredible last minute comeback leading to the 17th Hardy Cup title in program history.

Opening weekend continues the following day when the Manitoba Bisons host the Saskatchewan Huskies at Princess Auto Stadium on Aug. 31.

The nine-week regular season sees all teams play each other at least once, with three repeat match-ups and one bye week.

Circle Those Calendars

The schedule offers no shortage of games that qualify as appointment viewing, including a pair of heated provincial rivalries.

Regina and Saskatchewan will clash twice in 2024, with the Rams hosting the Huskies in their home opener at Mosaic Stadium on Sept. 6, before a rematch at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon on Oct. 19.

The Battle of Alberta also reignites on Sept. 6 with Calgary making the trip north to Foote Field to take on the Golden Bears.

Alberta will also have Oct. 4 circled on their calendars, as they host UBC in the second Hardy Cup rematch of the season.

Another intriguing matchup includes Manitoba visiting Calgary on Sept. 21 for the first time since last year's "Manitoba Miracle," which saw the Bisons wrestle the fourth and final playoff berth away from the Dinos in dramatic fashion.

The top four teams during regular season play will advance to the conference semifinals on Nov. 2, with the 87th Hardy Cup set for Nov. 9.
