FB: Canada West reveals 2025 football schedule

24 game schedule kicks off Aug. 28

May 13, 2025 – Get ready, Canada West football fans. The quest for the 88th BioSteel Hardy Cup officially begins on Aug. 28.

Canada West has unveiled its 2025 football schedule, featuring a 24 game regular season slate that runs through the end of October.

Semifinals will be played on Nov. 1, before a conference champion will be crowned at the 88th BioSteel Hardy Cup on Nov. 8.

The hard hitting action begins with a bang on Week 1, as the Manitoba Bisons and UBC Thunderbirds kick off the new season with a Thursday night showdown on Aug. 28 in Vancouver. Opening week continues the following night as Regina opens their Hardy Cup defence on the road against Calgary, while Alberta hosts Saskatchewan.

Schedule Highlights

Parity has long reigned supreme across Canada West football, meaning every single game matters. The 2025 schedule offers no shortage of highly anticipated showdowns, including a pair of heated provincial rivalries.

Fans on the prairies won't have to wait long for a Hardy Cup rematch between bitter rivals Saskatchewan and Regina. The Huskies host the Rams for a Week 3 battle at Griffiths Stadium on Sept. 19. Last season, Regina snapped a 24-year title drought with a 19-14 BioSteel Hardy Cup victory over the Huskies.

The Battle of Alberta will see two matchups in 2025. The Golden Bears welcome Calgary on Sept. 12, before the Dinos host the rematch on Oct. 25 in the regular season finale for both squads.

Saskatchewan and Regina both host their home openers on Sept. 5, with the Rams taking on Alberta and the Huskies welcoming UBC. Manitoba kicks off their home calendar at Princess Auto Stadium on Sept. 13 against Saskatchewan.

UBC's homecoming game, which always provides a raucous atmosphere inside Thunderbird Stadium, is scheduled for Sept. 19 against Calgary.

The nine-week regular season sees all teams play each other at least once. Each team will have three repeat match-ups and one bye week.

The top four teams during regular season play will advance to the conference semifinals on Nov. 1, with the 88th BioSteel Hardy Cup set to be contested on Nov. 8.
