CW Football: Week 3 Highlights and Recaps

Sept. 21, 2026 - After two weeks of relatively one-sided results, Week 3 delivered the drama Canada West football fans had been waiting for.

Manitoba survived a furious Calgary comeback to earn a 38-36 double-overtime victory, sealing the win when the Dinos potential game-tying two-point conversion fell incomplete. UBC erased a 10-point halftime deficit and shut out No. 4 Regina over the final two quarters for a 25-20 Homecoming triumph, while No. 7 Saskatchewan produced an offensive explosion in a dominant 65-12 victory over Alberta.

The results leave a logjam at the top of the Canada West standings, with Manitoba, Regina, Saskatchewan and UBC tied at 2-1 through three weeks of conference play.

Saskatchewan Huskies 65 at Alberta Golden Bears 12

Quick Summary: Anton Amundrud and the Saskatchewan offence were firing on all cylinders on Friday night, as the Huskies delivered their most complete performance of the season. The No. 7 Huskies piled up 512 yards of offence and forced four turnovers in a dominant road win. Amundrud completed 13 of 19 passes for 285 yards and six touchdowns, the second-highest single-game total in program history. Keaton Belsher recorded 182 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns, while Lucas Scheck had two interceptions and Owen Mazur blocked two punts. The 65 points were Saskatchewan’s most in a game since 2011.

Regina Rams 20 at UBC Thunderbirds 25

Quick Summary: UBC erased a 10-point halftime deficit and shut out No. 4 Regina in the second half to earn a Homecoming victory in front of more than 8,000 fans. Marvyn Larozar rushed for 208 yards and two touchdowns, including a 22-yard go-ahead score in the fourth quarter. Drew Viotto connected with Santiago Llarena for a 23-yard touchdown as the Thunderbirds scored 15 unanswered points after halftime. UBC’s defence sealed the win by turning aside Regina’s final drive into T-Birds territory.

Calgary Dinos 36 at Manitoba Bisons 38 (2OT)

Quick Summary: Manitoba survived a furious Calgary comeback to prevail in a double-overtime thriller. Cole Anseeuw threw for 255 yards and four touchdowns, while Ishe Matanga recorded 105 yards from scrimmage and three scores. Manitoba led 21-10 at half, but Calgary stormed back and forced overtime with a late TD. After trading field goals in the first overtime, the Bisons scored a TD and added the two-point convert in the second overtime before Calgary answered with a touchdown of its own. The Dinos’ potential game-tying two-point conversion fell incomplete, sealing a dramatic victory for the hosts.
