CW BioSteel Players of the Week: Sept. 9

Seven standouts recognized across CW

Sept. 9, 2025 - The fall semester is in full swing, with field hockey officially joining the action last weekend. UBC and Calgary opened the Canada West field hockey schedule, with the Thunderbirds earning back-to-back 5–0 victories.

On the gridiron, home teams ruled Week 2 in CW football. Saskatchewan and Regina each powered their way to 2–0 records with dominant wins, while Calgary staged a second-half rally to edge Manitoba 15–14.

Rugby also delivered drama, as Alberta mounted a furious second-half comeback to draw even in their home opener against Lethbridge. Victoria also blitzed Calgary to stay perfect on the season.

On the soccer pitch, the early contenders are starting to emerge. In women’s play, UBC, Calgary, and Mount Royal remain unbeaten, while UBC, Victoria, and Mount Royal have yet to fall on the men’s side.

With many great performances to celebrate, here are your BioSteel Players of the Week.
