Canada West Unveils 2025 Women's Soccer All-Star and All-Rookie Teams

Oct. 24, 2025 – With the Canada West women’s soccer postseason set to kick off this weekend, the conference has announced its 2025 Women’s Soccer All-Star and All-Rookie selections.
This season marks a new era for recognizing the conference’s top performers, as Canada West has introduced divisional All-Star teams, honouring standout student-athletes from both the Prairie and Pacific Divisions.
Prairie Division All-Stars
The Prairie Division champion Calgary Dinos led the way with four selections, including attacking threats Brooke Batty and Isabella DiPalma, as well as defenders Sofia DiGiacomo and Mykena Walker.
Their crosstown rivals from Mount Royal placed two on the team, including scoring sensation Tamara Djurisic, who co-led the conference with nine goals, as well as goalkeeper Ella Filek.
MacEwan earned three All-Star nods, including forward Grace Mwasalla and defensive standouts Raeghan McCarthy and Anneke Odinga. It's the fourth career CW All-Star nod for Odinga, and third for Mwasalla.
Alberta fifth year midfielder Wanda Czebreszuk ends her U SPORTS career on a high note with an All-Star nod, while Saskatchewan defender Jenna Steacy rounded out the selections.
Pacific Division All-Stars
The UBC Thunderbirds continued their historic run of dominance by sweeping through the regular season with a perfect record — becoming the first team in conference history to finish undefeated and without conceding a goal. Their dominance was reflected in the All-Star selections, as six Thunderbirds earned recognition: Sienna Gibson, Jayda Thompson, Zoelle Apps, Taiya Dennehy, Ella Sunde, and goalkeeper Dakota Beckett.
Sophie Crowther from Trinity Western was rewarded with her fourth career All-Star selection after a dominant offensive season that saw her lead CW in assists (13) and points (19). She was joined by teammate Emily Watchman.
Thompson River's Esi Lufo was a no-doubt selection after co-leading the conference in goals with nine. Annika Gross from UBCO and Taiya Scorey from Victoria rounded out the selections.
All-Rookie Team
The 2025 All-Rookie Team features a strong mix of emerging talent from across the conference, with six selections from each division.
Calgary placed two selections in Addison White and Marlee Portas, while other Prairie Division selections included Kiera Inglis (MacEwan), Hadiza Kasim (Regina), Isabelle Lachance (Saskatchewan) and Brooklyn Schott (Alberta).
A pair of UBC Thunderbird rookies cracked the list including Heike Clarke and Sophie Harrison, while the Thompson Rivers WolfPack also placed two selections in Sara Kuusimaki and Floor Ursem. Rounding out the list was Clara Chudley (Trinity Western) and Scarlett McNeely (Victoria).
The conference’s major award selections - including Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Student-Athlete Community Service Award and Coach of the Year - will be announced next week.
