Canada West to host second annual “Stick Up for Pride Tape” Games

Jan. 13, 2025 – Canada West hockey programs are set to come together for the conference's second annual “Stick Up for Pride Tape Games” beginning this Thursday night.
This year's edition of the event is set to take place at rinks across Canada West over the next two weekends. Each school will have the opportunity to host a designated "Stick Up for Pride Tape" game in either women's or men's hockey.
Hockey student-athletes from across the conference will have the opportunity to wear Pride Tape during the event, furthering a conference wide commitment to supporting the LGBTQ+ community, celebrating diversity and creating an inclusive environment for all student-athletes, coaches, officials and fans.
The 2025 edition looks to build on a successful inaugural event last season that saw widespread participation and support among Canada West teams, student-athletes and fans.
In addition to Pride Tape being worn on the ice during warmup and games, educational information and resources will be shared with fans both in-arena and on social media.
The initiative will also spotlight two organizations dedicated to promoting diversity, equality and inclusion through sport, including Pride Tape and You Can Play. Information on how fans can support both organizations will be shared on Canada West social media channels throughout the event.
