Canada West Reveals 2025 Soccer Schedule
The action returns to the pitch Aug. 22

June 23, 2025 – Get ready, CW footy fans! Canada West soccer returns in just under two months, as the conference has officially unveiled its 2025 regular season schedule.
The action kicks off with a bang on Aug. 22, with a trio of locations hosting season opening men's and women's doubleheaders. Trinity Western will visit Victoria, Thompson Rivers heads north to tackle UNBC, while both UBC squads will open their conference title defence against Fraser Valley. Opening weekend action continues with a handful of games through Sunday, before every program hits the pitch the following weekend.
Teams will battle through the nine-week long regular season until Oct. 19, setting the stage for another thrilling postseason. Women's quarterfinal matches will take place Oct. 24 to 26, with the Final Four hosted by the highest remaining Pacific Division team from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.
On the men's side, quarterfinal and semifinal matches take place Oct. 24 to 26, with the Gold Medal Game to be played the following weekend.
Both UBC programs will be looking to defend the conference and national titles they claimed last fall. The T-Birds women's program completed a perfect season en route to their second CW title in three years, and second straight national crown. Meanwhile, the UBC men captured their sixth conference crown in seven seasons, and first national championship since 2013.
This year's U SPORTS national tournaments are set for Nov. 6 to 9. The women's tournament will be hosted by McMaster in Hamilton, Ont., while the men's event will be hosted by the University of Toronto.
WSOC | Thunderbirds look for encore after "Perfect Season"

After achieving a "perfect season" with 20 wins in 20 games, it will be no small feat for the UBC Thunderbirds to top their performance from a year ago. The powerhouse program conceded just four goals throughout the regular season and Canada West playoffs en route to their second CW championship in the last three years, defeating Victoria 3-0 in the final. They would go on to defeat Laval in the national championship to secure their second straight U SPORTS title.
Look for Victoria to be back in the mix again this year, coming off a strong 7-2-5 record last season. Trinity Western is also coming off another nationals appearance, earning last year's CW bronze medal. Out on the prairies, Calgary and MacEwan will look to build on impressive campaigns. The Dinos topped the Prairie Division with a stellar 11-2-1 record last season, while the Griffins were close behind with a 10-1-3 mark.
We've got Oct. 17 and 18 circled on our calendars, as UBC will host Victoria in a CW Final rematch to close out the regular season.

MSOC | T-Birds enter new campaign back on top

After being knocked off their perch the season prior, the UBC Thunderbirds men's program returned back on top in a big way last season. The T-Birds got their revenge on Mount Royal by winning a Canada West Final rematch against the Cougars, before flying to the top of U SPORTS men's soccer with an impressive national championship run.
What will they do for an encore? We'll find out starting on Aug. 22 when the T-Birds open their schedule at home against Fraser Valley.
Coming off a second straight nationals appearance, Mount Royal will be among the favourites in the Prairie Division once again. They'll surely have Sept. 20 circled on their calendars as they host UBC in a highly anticipated CW Final rematch.
Other teams to watch include the Alberta Golden Bears, who topped the Prairie Division last season with a stellar 10-1-3 mark. Calgary was close behind at 7-2-5, while Lethbridge made the playoffs and proved to be a tough out all season.
Looking to challenge UBC's dominance in the Pacific Division will be the Victoria Vikes, Fraser Valley Cascades, and Trinity Western Spartans, who are all coming off playoff appearances last season.
