Canada West Football returns to TV
SaskTel/TELUS customers receive more games in 2022
CALGARY - The hard-hitting action of Canada West football will soon be at the fingertips of SaskTel & TELUS subscribers. Fans can catch CW games each weekend on SaskTel maxTV and maxTV Stream.
This partnership between the conference and SaskTel (branded the Canada West Football Showcase) returns by popular demand with even more games produced and broadcast by SaskTel than last year. The 2022 season marks the first of a three-year contract renewal.
The Saskatchewan-based telecommunications firm will host 16 regular season games on the air as well as the conference semifinals and Hardy Cup. That will be one to circle on the calendar as the conference crowns its 85th champ on November 12.
All season long, Regina Rams and Saskatchewan Huskies supporters can watch all their teams' games on SaskTel maxTV and maxTV Stream, starting with their week one match-ups at Manitoba and Calgary respectively. The first Football Showcase of the season pits the past two Hardy Cup champions against each other, as the Huskies take on the Dinos at 5:30 p.m. MDT on September 2. The Rams and Bisons will follow soon after, kicking off at 7:00 p.m. CDT.
“SaskTel is proud to support Saskatchewan athletics by once again partnering with Canada West to broadcast the CW Football Showcase on maxTV Local on Demand,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President and CEO. “Broadcasting these games provides the opportunity for increased audiences to see top high-performance athletes in action, bringing broader recognition to university football.”
All Rams and Huskies games will also be available on maxTV Local on Demand. Viewers can find them on channels 48 or 348 for the Rams and 49 or 349 for the Huskies.
Fans in British Columbia and Alberta will be able to watch Showcase games on TELUS Optik TV, on channels 997 and 998.
“SaskTel continues to be a great partner of CW and especially of the two university programs in Saskatchewan. We’re grateful for their continued support of the astounding athletes who compete in this conference, and excited for another year of compelling action,” said Steve Tuckwood, Canada West's vice president of marketing.
SaskTel has been the official television home of Canada West since 2017, airing games from the past four seasons, including the last four Hardy Cups.
All games will be available through streaming packages or single-game tickets on Canada West TV.
