Canada West announces championship sport dates
Dates and locations for 2024-25 championships unveiled
June 28, 2024 - Six conference championships across six host schools. Canada West has officially unveiled its 2024-25 championship sport host locations and dates.
The excitement begins with the 2024 CW Golf Championships, hosted by UBC Okanagan in Kelowna, B.C. from Oct. 7-8. The UBC Thunderbirds will enter as defending champions after sweeping both the men's and women's competition last year.
The conference's top distance runners will converge later in the month, with the 2024 CW Cross Country championships set to be hosted by the University of Alberta on Oct. 26. This year's event will be held at the Stoney Creek Centre in Camrose and will mark the second time Alberta has hosted the championship. Alberta previously hosted the event in 1975, when it was held at Mayfair Park (now known as Hawrelak Park). UBCO will then prepare to host the nation's best in Kelowna at the 2024 U SPORTS Cross Country Championships on Nov. 9.
Heading into the pool, the UBC Thunderbirds are on tap to host the 2024 CW Swimming Championships in Vancouver from Nov. 22 to 24.
The action continues once the calendar shifts to 2025, with the University of Calgary hosting the 2025 CW Curling Championships from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2. The U SPORTS Curling Championships will also be held in southern Alberta, hosted by the University of Lethbridge from Feb. 24 to 28.
The province of Saskatchewan will host a pair of marquee conference events in February, with the University of Saskatchewan welcoming the 2025 CW Wrestling Championships on Feb. 15 in Saskatoon, and the University of Regina hosting the 2025 CW Track & Field Championships from Feb. 21 to 22.
