Canada West Announces 2025-26 Volleyball Schedule

First serve set for Oct. 16

June 26, 2025 - A new chapter of Canada West volleyball is set to begin later this fall.

Canada West has released its 2025-26 volleyball schedule, with both men’s and women’s seasons kicking off the weekend of Oct. 16 to 18.

The regular season will stretch across 13 weeks, concluding on Feb. 14. Postseason play gets underway with play-in series taking place Feb. 20–22 , followed by quarterfinal matchups the next weekend.

The Canada West Final Four will be contested March 6 and 7.

The 2026 U SPORTS women's national championships will be hosted by the Trinity Western Spartans in Langley, B.C., while Windsor hosts the men's edition. Both tournaments run from March 13 to 15.

Canada West programs will aim to extend their dominance on the national stage. Last season, both host programs made magical runs to national glory, with Manitoba capturing the 2025 women's title and Brandon laying claim to the men's trophy.

WVB | Pandas, Bisons coming off championship runs

Last season produced countless memorable moments, and fans can expect the same in 2025-26 with so much talent and parity across the conference.

In a conference filled with multiple powerhouse programs, Alberta and Manitoba enter the new season looking to defend the championship titles they earned a year ago.

The Alberta Pandas thrilled their hometown fans in last year's CW Final, defeating UBC in an instant classic to capture their first conference crown since 2017.

The Bisons, meanwhile, put on a nationals performance of a lifetime in front of their hometown fans, claiming the national championship with a win over Montreal in the U SPORTS Final.

And who could forget the memorable postseason run made by the Saskatchewan Huskies, who upset the top-seeded UFV Cascades in the quarterfinals to secure a stunning nationals berth.

The 2025-26 opening weekend begins with a Thursday night game on Oct. 16, as this year’s nationals host, Trinity Western, visits Fraser Valley. Alberta will open their title defence the next night when they visit Saskatchewan.

Manitoba has a first week bye, beginning their season at home on Oct. 24 against UBC.

MVB | Winnipeg, Brandon begin title defences

Last season, both the Canada West and U SPORTS titles ran through the province of Manitoba.

Winnipeg made history by capturing their first conference championship, defeating defending champion Alberta in the Canada West final. The victory put an end to the Golden Bears' two-year reign atop Canada West.

And who could forget the scenes out of Brandon from the U SPORTS national championship, as the host went on a magical run to claim the program's first national title, defying the odds as a No. 8 seed.

Brandon opens their new season on the west coast with a series against UBC from Oct. 17 to 18, and will host their home opener Oct. 31 against Mount Royal. Meanwhile, Winnipeg opens with a trip to Fraser Valley Oct. 24 and 25, before battling Trinity Western in their home opener Oct. 31.

After settling for silver at both the conference and national level, the Golden Bears will have a chip on their shoulder this season as they look to get back on top. They'll open their campaign on Oct. 17 at Saskatchewan.
