BB: Masikewich, Hillis put on offensive display in Saskatoon

Top performers showcased in Saskatchewan-Regina matchup

VANCOUVER - The offensive prowess of Saskatchewan's Summer Masikewich and Regina's Benjamin Hillis was on full display on the weekend, as the two were named the conference's Basketball Players of the Week on Tuesday.

On the women's side, Summer Masikewich was on fire in Friday' night's 81-48 Huskies' win. The fifth-year forward from Calgary scored 27 points, on 13-of-17 shooting, and grabbed nine rebounds, while adding five blocks and three steals on the defensive end.

On Saturday, Masikewich racked up a double-double of 29 points and 14 rebounds in an 82-52 Saskatchewan victory.

Over the two game stretch, Masikewich shot at a 73 percent clip, going 24-of-33 on field goal attempts.

Saskatchewan (4-0) will enjoy a weekend off before heading down to Regina to take on the Cougars (0-4) again November 26-27.

Benjamin Hillis' outstanding play over the weekend led the Regina Cougars to a pair of wins on the road against the Saskatchewan Huskies.

Hillis poured in 25 points, including a five-of-nine effort from three-point range, to go along with eight rebounds and five assists in an 87-76 win.

On Saturday, Hillis was at his best when the Cougars needed it. The fifth-year guard from Regina scored 17 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter. Regina outscored Saskatchewan 34-19 in the final 10 minutes, erasing a seven point deficit to earn the weekend sweep.

The Cougars (3-1) are back on the road this weekend, making the trip to Winnipeg for a pair of games with the Manitoba Bisons (2-0). Both games are available on Canada West TV presented by Co-op.
