Alberta hockey rivalries kick off 2025 CW calendar

MRU/CGY and GMU/ALB set to clash in home-and-home series

Jan. 2, 2025 – Happy New Year, Canada West fans!

CW competition officially resumes this weekend, with the conference kicking off its 2025 calendar on the ice with a pair of crosstown hockey rivalries taking centre stage.

Alberta and MacEwan will engage in a home-and-home set in Edmonton, while bitter rivals Calgary and Mount Royal will do the same in Cow-Town.

Saturday's women's hockey clash between the Dinos and Cougars will be available to view for free as the Canada West CBC Game of the Week.

Nearly all Canada West teams will return to action next weekend, with a full slate of conference games scheduled across volleyball, hockey and basketball.


Women's Hockey Schedule (Jan. 3 to 4)

Friday, Jan. 3 - Alberta at MacEwan (7 p.m. MT)

Friday, Jan. 3 - Calgary at Mount Royal (7 p.m. MT)

Saturday, Jan. 4 - MacEwan at Alberta (2 p.m. MT)

Saturday, Jan. 4 - Mount Royal at Calgary (5 p.m. MT) - Telus WHKY Game of the Week and CBC Game of the Week

Friday, Jan. 3 - MacEwan at Alberta (7 p.m. MT)
